SkyView expansion means job openings
Highlands Ranch charter has 15 full-time positions available
As SkyView Academy adds eighth and 11th grades to the academic menu next year, the school is in search of 15 new full-time staff members and a slew of part-timers.
The K-12 charter school, which recently expanded its Business Center Drive campus in Highlands Ranch, has plans to hire math, history, Spanish and English teachers at the middle and high school levels as well as middle school technology and science teachers and a high school physics teacher and academic counselor.
In addition, the academy is looking to hire an elementary librarian and fill four positions within the school’s special education program. They are also looking for part-time classroom assistants for grades K-5
“It’s such an exciting time for SkyView because of all the growth,” said board President Lorrie Gove. “With the school only being three years old, it’s a good time for staff to come in and get to help mold the program while we are still busy growing. The curriculum is set, but we’re looking for people with an entrepreneurial spirit.”
The public charter school is inviting prospective candidates to an open house slated for 9 a.m.-noon March 16 at 6161 Business Center Drive in Highlands Ranch. Candidates are asked to bring their resumes and any questions they may have. The executive director and all three principals will be on hand to answer questions.
Each applicant must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment while engaging in an ongoing exchange of ideas and a commitment to the learning and self-improvement for the betterment of all SVA students, said Grove.
“We are open to anybody that believes in our school and our vision and mission,” she added. “It could be someone with years of experience or someone right out of college. Our staff right now is on the young side, but it really depends who is a good fit.”
The school, which will graduate its first class in 2015, currently has 1,041 students enrolled for next school year, but anticipates the final number to be around 1,200. According to Grove, there is a wait list for grades K-8, but the school does have spots available for new students in all three high school grade levels for the fall.
